Kawasaki has launched the Z900 in Indonesia at IDR 225 million (Rs 11.27 lakh). A successor to the Kawasaki Z800, the Z900 is expected to go on sale in India over the next couple of months.
The Kawasaki Z900 is a versatile street bike which can double up as a tourer. It is built around a new lightweight trellis frame. It is propelled by a new 948cc inline-four engine based on the litre-class Z1000 engine, and delivers 126bhp and 98Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with slipper clutch. Despite being more powerful than the Z800, the Z900 is lighter by 21 kilograms. The Z900 rides on 41mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock with adjustable preload and rebound.
Kawasaki is offering the Z900 with a host of touring-focussed optional accessories including 14-litre panniers and a 30-litre top box. Once launched here, the Z900 will compete with the Ducati Monster 821, Yamaha MT-09 and the Triumph Bonneville T100. We can expect it to be priced around Rs 10 lakh.
