- Indian launch unlikely
After the Ninja ZX-25R, Kawasaki has launched another sub-500cc inline four-cylinder motorcycle for international markets. Christened as the ZX-4RR, this new motorcycle has been launched in the United States with prices starting from USD 9,699 (Rs 7.93 lakh). Meanwhile, its Indian launch is highly unlikely.
In terms of design, the new ZX-4RR looks similar to its quarter-litre sibling. Thus, it features a twin-pod headlight, full-fairing, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, fairing-integrated front turn indicators, and a split-style saddle. However, unlike the ZX-25R, this motorcycle gets a side-slung exhaust instead of a compact unit. It also gets the Kawasaki Racing Team colour and graphics. The feature list is comprehensive as well, and the new Kawasaki ZX-4RR comes with LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled 4.3-inch colour TFT display, power modes, a three-level traction control system, and ABS.
Meanwhile, the mechanical specifications comprise a 399cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with 16 valves (four valves per cylinder) that revs to a whopping 16,000rpm. This motor is linked to a six-speed transmission that benefits from a bidirectional quick-shifter and a slipper/assist clutch mechanism.
The Ninja ZX-4RR is built around a trellis frame and uses 37mm upside-down Showa SFF-BP front forks and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The front forks are adjustable for preload while the rear features adjustability for compression, rebound, and spring preload. Then, the braking hardware on this product comprises twin 290mm discs at the front and a single 220mm rotor at the back.
As mentioned earlier, this motorcycle is not likely to arrive in the Indian market in the foreseeable future.
