Keeway India recently entered the 300-400cc naked bike segment with the K300 N. This bike competes with a handful of names like the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, Honda CB300R, and the Bajaj Dominar 400. In this story, we’ll put the Hungarian offering with the KTM 390 Duke on paper. Let’s see how the two streetfighters compare.
Design
The K300 N gets a very youthful and sharp design language. Its LED headlight, sculpted fuel tank, scooped split seat, and overall bodywork is youthful. The black paint scheme is complemented well by the red and silver accents. On the other hand, the KTM 390 Duke too gets a very aggressive design. Derived from its larger siblings, the 390 gets an LED headlight with boomerang-like DRLS. The metal fuel tank adds to the visual mass of the bike and the 390 too gets a scooped split seat like the 300 N.
Features
The Keeway K300 N packs a very basic set of features. It gets LED illumination, an LCD instrument console with basic readouts like the speedometer, odometer, and trip meter, engine temperature readout, gear position indicator, and fuel level reading. Meanwhile, the 390 Duke gets LED lights and benefits from a TFT display, smartphone connectivity, traction control, and a quickshifter too. Apart from that, it too packs the aforementioned readouts like the K300 N.
Engine
Keeway has powered the K300 N with a 292cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor with the output rated at 27.1 bhp and 25 Nm. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox and nestled in a trellis frame. Meanwhile, the KTM packs a larger 373cc single-cylinder mill and develops 42bhp and 37NM. It too gets a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter.
Hardware
Both bikes ride on USD front forks and monoshock and get a single front and rear disc brake. But the 390 Duke gets a 320mm front disc whereas the K300 N uses a 292mm unit. Both bikes ride on 17-inch alloys wrapped in road-biased rubber.
Price
Keeway has priced the K300 N at Rs 2,85,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and KTM retails the 390 Duke at Rs 2,96,230 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes the KTM bike a better value-for-money proposition since it packs more power, features and also has a better brand recall.
