KTM has unveiled their new adventure motorcycle, the 1050 Adventure, at the ongoing EICMA 2014. This bike joins its other bigger siblings - the 1290 Super Adventure and the 1190 Adventure.
During the KTM RC200 and RC390 launch in India, the top honcho had confirmed about the arrival of this new Adventure and said it will replace the 990 Adventure that has been doing duty since many years. The Austrian manufacturer says that this bike gets a new V-Twin engine that produces maximum power of 95bhp, making it accessible to A2 licence holders.
KTM is emphasising a lot on its new engine. This is what they have to say about it.
“Based on the same first-rate technology platform as its sister models, the new KTM 1050 Adventure has a different engine, which may have less displacement and power but has lost neither its refinement nor its fizzy punch thanks to elaborate adaptations. ABS and traction control are standard here as well.”
The new KTM Adventure 1050 tips the scale at 212 kg and comes with ABS as standard. Even though the power figure is on the lower end for a litre-class engine, the Austrian manufacturer has equipped the bike with a traction control system and ride-by-wire system that will help the rider depending on his requirements.
But there is good news for us. A top honcho from KTM has confirmed to BikeWale that this new 1050 Adventure motorcycle will be sold in India in the coming months via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route making this the first V-Twin bike to be officially sold in India. And knowing KTM India, we can expect them to price this bike very competitively.
