After several days of speculations and anticipations, KTM has finally launched the 125 Duke in India. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 1.18 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and we take a quick look at the other options available with a similar price tag.
Starting with the most affordable offering, at Rs 99,283, one can have the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 that churns out a healthy 23.2bhp and 18.3Nm from its 199.5cc, liquid-cooled motor. Moving a bit higher in the price range, Suzuki offers two models – the Gixxer SF Fi and the Intruder 150. Both the bikes are powered by the same 154.9cc, air-cooled motor good for 14.6bhp and 14Nm. The Gixxer SF Fi retails at Rs 1.02 lakhs. The Intruder 150 is available in carburetor and fuel-injection versions priced at Rs 1.02 lakhs and Rs 1.09 lakhs, respectively.
Now, there are five other full-faired bikes in the list. At Rs 1.08 lakhs, Hero offers the Karizma ZMR with a 223cc, air-cooled engine that churns out 20bhp and 19.7Nm. The Yamaha YZF-R15 S is just Rs 8,000 dearer than this which produces 16bhp and 15Nm from its 150cc mill. For a more aggressive design, one can also go for the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. It gets a 199.5cc engine that churns out 24.5bhp and 18.6Nm. The other two offerings are from Yamaha – the Fazer 25 and the YZF-R15 V3. The latter houses a 155cc motor that is good for 18.7bhp and 15Nm and it is priced at Rs 1.30 lakhs. As for the Fazer 25, it gets a 249cc, air-cooled mill that generates 20.3 bhp and 20Nm and carries the price tag of Rs 1.28 lakhs.
The Yamaha FZ25 is the naked version of the Fazer 25 with the same engine but lower price tag of Rs 1.18 lakhs. At a similar price, Royal Enfield has the Bullet 350, retailing at Rs 1.16 lakhs, powered by a 346cc, air-cooled motor that produces 19.8bhp and 28Nm. Lastly, for those who prefer convenience and style, Vespa Elegante 150 is a premium scooter with a 150cc engine that pumps out 11.4bhp and 11.5Nm. It is priced at Rs 1.01 lakhs.
