Most of the motorcycle enthusiasts are aware about the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. They know it as one crazy naked motorcycle that has the capacity to increase heart beats but hold your horses. The bike is being readied for this year’s launch and has been spied during a video shoot in France
The spied motorcycle was carrying a badge of KTM 1290 Super Adventure. The overall design cues have been carried from the 1190 Adventure which was obvious as it is one of the most successful adventure tourer motorcycles one can buy. So the KTM engineers found the need to retain this style. There are few major changes like the new air-vents that can be spotted at the front panel of the motorcycle and a towering windscreen to provide wind protection to the rider. The fuel tank area doesn’t show any major changes but we can expect a marginal increase in the capacity.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure is expected to get its heart from the successful 1290 Super Duke R. But the power figures will be retuned to suit the nature of the bike. Expect the motorcycle to generate extra torque at lower revs, and the power figure coming down from the current 180bhp. The motorcycle is also expected to get anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control system and the motorcycle stability control (MSC).
We can expect the 1290 Super Adventure to replace the 1190 Adventure R once it is launched. There is a high chance of this motorcycle making its official debut at the 2014 EICMA show. Will it come to India? Well, tourers like me have to wait for at least a year to see any launch developments of this motorcycle in our country.
