- KTM likely to launch the 200 Duke in the US
- Expected to be priced at $4000 (approximately Rs 2.99 lakh)
The KTM 200 Duke was the first motorcycle from the Austrian bike maker in India. After remaining majorly unchanged for a long time, it received a comprehensive makeover recently which only made it a more attractive proposition. Similar to India, it is also popular in a few other Asian markets. Now, an online report suggests that the KTM 200 Duke is going to cater to the American market as well.
The 200 Duke’s entry in the US will be truly interesting as the riders largely prefer burly-looking, large displacement motorcycles there. However, recent times have witnessed an increase in demand for smaller and more accessible motorcycles. This is where the 200 Duke will fit the bill with its accessible seat height, light weight and a smaller engine by American standards. Also, it is likely to be priced at $4000 (approximately Rs 2.99 lakh) which will make it $1500 cheaper than the 390 Duke in the US.
In India, KTM launched the BS6 model of the 200 Duke in January this year. It received a styling identical to the 250 Duke with much sharper body panels while the chassis is also split-type now. Powering the motorcycle is the same 199cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which continues to produce 24.6bhp and 19.2Nm. It is available in two colour options – Electric Orange and Ceramic White with a price tag of Rs 1.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
