- Displayed at the 2018 Indonesian International Motor Show.
- Offered as accessory and improves torque output and exhaust note.
- Likely to arrive in India in 2020 with BS-VI norms.
Austrian manufacturer, KTM recently showcased the 200 Duke with a side mounted exhaust at the Indonesian International Motor Show.
The exhaust looks similar to the one found on the 250 and 390 Duke. KTM claims that the exhaust has resulted in improved torque delivery and a bass-y exhaust note. However, it is being offered as an optional accessory and mounts onto the existing exhaust setup.
Apart from this, the bike remains the same visually and mechanically. It is powered by a 199cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 25bhp and 19Nm of torque via a six-speed gearbox. While the power figures for the Indonesian-spec model are similar to the KTM 200 Duke sold in India, the former is lighter. It has a kerb weight of 143.5kg; 4kgs lesser than the India-spec model. The bike also gets a single-channel ABS unit which the Indian version misses out on to keep costs in check.
While Indonesia and other Asian markets are likely to get the 200 Duke with the side-mounted exhaust this year, the India-spec model is likely to continue with the underbelly unit. We can expect the exhaust to feature on the bike once the industry shifts to BS-VI emission norms in 2020.
