- KTM 250 Adventure likely to be launched next week
- Could be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Will compete against the Royal Enfield Himalayan
KTM had unveiled its much-awaited 390 Adventure in December last year in India. While that was one of the biggest unveils of 2019, the Austrian bike maker had also taken the wraps off the smaller 250 Adventure. However, that was for the Indonesian market. Later, in August 2020, the 250 ADV was spied testing in India, pointing towards an imminent launch. While we are waiting for its official confirmation, our dealer sources are now claiming that the India launch of the KTM 250 Adventure is scheduled to take place as early as next week.
KTM is expected to price the 250 Adventure around Rs 2.5-2.6 lakh (ex-showroom) which, if turns out to be true, will make it roughly Rs 40,000-50,000 cheaper than the 390 Adventure. Although both bikes will share the same design and cycle parts, the 250cc iteration might lose out on some premium features such as the traction control system and a quick shifter. On the positive side, the spy shots of the bike show the same full-colour TFT display which comes on the 390 ADV. Furthermore, although the existing official images show a halogen headlamp, the India-spec 250 Adventure might get the 390 Adventure-like full-LED unit, similar to the new 250 Duke which shares its headlight with the 390 Duke.
Powering the KTM 250 Adventure will be the same 248.7cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor which does duty on the 250 Duke. It will ride on a 19-17-inch alloy wheel combination with WP 43mm inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking will be handled by a 320mm disc and a 230mm disc at the front and rear, respectively. Similar to the hardware, dimensions of the bike will also be similar to the 390 Adventure.
The KTM 250 Adventure will face a stiff competition from the Royal Enfield Himalayan in the entry-level adventure touring genre.
