A spy shot of a completely undisguised KTM 250 Duke has been circulating over the internet. Featuring KTM’s new design philosophy, this quarter-litre streetfighter could be the third Duke to be launched in India on February 23.
The KTM 250 Duke was originally developed for Southeast Asian markets like Indonesia and Thailand because the tax structure penalises motorcycles with a displacement of over 250cc. However, with the new-generation 390 Duke moving a price level above the current bike, KTM might launch the 250 Duke in India and position it above the facelifted 200 Duke. Powering the 250 Duke is a 248.8cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which makes 31bhp and 24Nm of torque. Like the 200 Duke, it rides on MRF Revz C tyres and doesn’t get ABS.
However, this spy shot doesn’t necessarily confirm that the 250 Duke is going to be launched here. The entire small-capacity Duke range for the global market, stretching from the 125s to the 390s is manufactured in India. There is a possibility that this motorcycle might be bound for its original markets. We’ll just have to wait till February 23 to know for sure.
