KTM 390 Adventure India launch: What to expect?

KTM is scheduled to launch the 390 ADV in India at the 2019 India Bike Week between 6 and 7 December. So before the bike makes its debut here, we tell you what to expect from the KTM's 390 Adventure.  

Styling 

The KTM 390 Adventure borrows design inspiration from its bigger sibling, the 790 Adventure that is available in international markets. It sports the distinctive split-LED headlamp flanked by LED turn indicators, similar to the 390 Duke. 

The motorcycle also gets a clear windscreen, knuckle guards, and engine sump guard that amplify its off-road character. Furthermore, the 390 Adventure features a contoured 14.5-litre fuel tank for optimum thigh support and a comfortable-looking split-seat setup.  

Engine  

Powering the 390 Adventure is the same 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that the 390 Duke uses. This motor is capable of producing 42.9bhp of power and 37Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. 

Features 

Apart from features like the LED lights and Bluetooth-enabled full-colour TFT display which has been picked up from the streetfighter version, the 390 Adventure also gets some additional equipment. It features a traction control system along with the ‘Supermoto’ mode that turns of ABS to the rear wheel. 

Cycle Parts 

The KTM 390 Adventure ride on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres. These are suspended from adjustable 43mm inverted forks upfront that offer 170mm of travel along with a rebound and preload adjustable monoshock at the rear with 177mm of travel. Meanwhile, braking is done by a 320mm single-disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear accompanied by a dual-channel ABS.  

Pricing 

The 390 Duke is priced at Rs 2.48 lakhs. And given that the 390 ADV is based on the latter, but offer additional equipment and features, we expect it to demand a premium over the latter and somewhere between Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 3.2 lakhs (ex-showroom).
