KTM 390 Adventure spotted testing

- Styling inspired by siblings from Adventure range 

- Engine and frame borrowed from 390 Duke

- Rides on long-travel suspension and spoke wheels

The KTM 390 Adventure has been spotted undergoing trials in Europe. The test mule sported chassis and engine similar to the 390 Duke, with styling and functional elements inspired by its sibling from the Adventure range. 

The trellis frame might look similar to the 390 Duke, but we expect it to be strengthened to withstand more abuse. The 390 Adventure also gets similar WP inverted forks front suspension setup, albeit with more travel. It is also possible that the front forks could have an axle offset, which is common in dual-sport motorcycles. We can safely expect the rear to get more suspension travel as well. It also rides on spoke wheels with dual sport tyres. While the front wheel is definitely bigger than the rear, it is not clear whether it is a 19-incher or a 21-incher. 

Visually, the 390 Adventure follows the design language of the bigger Adventure range. The split headlamp gets LED units with a windscreen at the top. The edgy body lines give it an aggressive look, while the narrow tank should make it easier to grip on to. We can expect it to get the same colour TFT display as the 390 Duke. 

While the 390 Adventure has been spotted testing before, this prototype looks ready to hit the production lines. Sharing a bunch of components with the 390 Duke should help KTM save on development and production costs, thereby allowing them to price it lucratively. With a debut planned in 2019, the 390 Adventure will make its maiden appearance at the 2018 EICMA Show in Italy.
