- KTM 390 Duke dispatches temporarily halted
- Dealers haven’t received stocks for 2-3 months
- Semi-conductor shortage likely to be the reason
The dispatches of the KTM 390 Duke have been temporarily put on hold in India, as revealed by our dealer sources. On contacting several dealers across various regions in the country, we learnt that they have not been receiving stocks of the 390 Duke over the last 2-3 months. The reason is likely to be a disruption in production due to the global semi-conductor shortage. That said, we reached out to the brand for a confirmation on the same but to no avail.
The ongoing semi-conductor shortage is certainly the reason for the delay in the launch of the 2022 RC 390 and the 2022 390 Adventure. However, the latter has already started reaching select dealerships and the official launch will take place soon. As for the 390 Duke, some dealers still have the 2021 model year bikes left in stock.
KTM is unlikely to bestow the 390 Duke with major updates anytime soon. However, we might see a completely overhauled, next-generation iteration of the bike by the end of this year or early next year. It was spotted undergoing road tests in April last year. Besides the reworked design, it sported mechanical changes such as five-spoke cast wheels, a new trellis frame and a composite subframe. Now, it remains to be seen what new features come in the next-gen 390 Duke, a motorcycle that’s already quite loaded for its class.
