KTM has finally launched the new 390 Duke in India. It has received a massive overhaul and a slight price bump, too. The updates to the KTM 390 Duke come from its design, engine, hardware, features, and mechanical department. So, let’s take a look at all of them in this story.
Design
The new KTM 390 Duke gets a revised headlight and fuel tank design. It retains the boomerang-shaped DRLs but the unit looks much wider. Then, the LED setup, too, has been altered compared to the previous vertical pattern. The new bike gets larger shrouds and the overall design features more cuts and creases. It seems to have an even sharper demeanour than its predecessor and an exposed rear subframe. Not to mention, KTM has also draped the bike in two new paint schemes – Atlantic Blue and Electronic Orange Metallic.
Features
Along with LED illumination, the latest KTM 390 Duke comes with a fully digital instrument console, launch control, and ride modes (Street, Rain, and Track). Other features like smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call and music control have also been offered.
Engine
Powering the new KTM 390 Duke is a new and larger 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It makes 44.25bhp and 39Nm and gets a six-speed gearbox that benefits from a slip-and-assist clutch and a quickshifter as well. For reference, the previous model used a 373cc single-cylinder motor and it made 42.9bhp and 37Nm.
Hardware
The Austrian streetfighter rides on updated 43mm front USD forks with compression and rebound adjustability and an adjustable offset monoshock. Even the brakes are different as the latest generation of the 390 Duke comes with a 320mm front and 240mm rear disc and dual-channel, cornering, and Supermoto ABS. These are mounted on lighter 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres.
Price
The asking price for the new KTM 390 Duke is set at Rs. 3.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). That’s around Rs. 13,000 more than its predecessor.
