There’s a big surprise here! KTM is reportedly testing a scrambler based on the famous 390 platform. A prototype was recently spied testing alongside the most awaited 390 Adventure.
The test mule was running on a spoked-wheel at the front and a cast- wheel at the rear, making us believe that this is an early-stage prototype. The tyres look more of dual-purpose in nature which is a must for a scrambler-type bike. The scrambler and the adventure prototypes have a lot of things in common. But the Scrambler gets a raked-out front and off-road style fender.
The prototype was seen with minimal bodywork which gives no hint about the overall design and styling. While the fuel tank on the scrambler is identical to the one on the adventure, the body work on the sub-frame is different. KTM has installed fork covers which isn’t helping in knowing the suspension travel.
We’re expecting KTM to unveil the 390 Adventure at the upcoming 2017 EICMA. But this is the first time the 390 Scrambler prototype was spied, so it might a year or two before we see a concept. As this KTM will be manufactured in India, we expect it to go on sale in the country.
