- Rides on 17-inch spoke wheels
- Based on the KTM 390 Adventure S
- Could be priced around Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom)
Supermoto fans are in for a surprise as the upcoming KTM 390 SMC R has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The motorcycle made its global at EICMA 2024 in November. The spotting of the test mule confirms our exclusive report of KTM considering the 390 SMC R for launch in India.
Similar to the EICMA show bike, the test prototype is also seen running on 17-inch wire-spoke wheels. And like the Adventure S and the Enduro R, we also expect the Supermoto to get tubeless spoke wheels.
While the KTM 390 Adventure S and the 390 Enduro R will be launched in India in January 2025, we expect KTM to launch the 390 SMC R sometime in the first half of next year. KTM wants to gauge the market response before launching the bike in India.
Once launched, the KTM 390 SMC R will be the most affordable and the first supermoto in the country in the sub-500cc segment. With its long-travel suspension and 17-inch wheels, the SMC R could turn out to be the only bike you’d ever need from KTM.
The 390 SMC R will be powered by a 399cc, liquid-cooled motor linked to a six-speed gearbox. This engine develops 45.3bhp and a peak torque of 39Nm on the 390 Duke. Although KTM hasn’t revealed any technical details about the bike, we expect the SMC R to feature a different final drive ratio to suit the Supermoto’s application.
When launched in India, the KTM 390 SMC R will likely be positioned between the 390 Duke and the 390 Adventure S. We expect it to be priced at around Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
