Following the launch of the 790 Adventure in the UK, KTM has now introduced the middle-weight adventure motorcycle in Indonesia. The motorcycle was showcased at the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, carrying a sticker price of IDR 350,000,000 which converts to Rs 17.19 lakhs in Indian currency.
The 790 Adventure has been built around an all-new platform. And to go with it is a newly developed LC8c 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled mill that is rated to churn out 95bhp and 88Nm. KTM has included several features making the 790 Adventure a well-kitted motorcycle which includes ride-by-wire with multiple riding modes, cornering ABS and KTM’s Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) (a lean-angle sensitive traction control system).
For cycle parts, the 790 Adventure comes equipped with WP sourced 43mm inverted forks for the front and a monoshock for the rear. For braking, the motorcycle employs dual 320mm discs up front with radially mounted four-piston calipers and a 260mm single disc with a two-piston floating caliper. The motorcycle offers a ground clearance of 233mm and a seat height of 850mm (adjustable). The 790 Adventure tips the scale at 189kg (dry) and offers a fuel tank capacity of 20-litres.
As far as the Indian market is concerned, it is likely that KTM will launch the motorcycle sometime next year. And when it happens, KTM will bring it via the CKD route in order to price it competitively. In terms of rivalry, expect the 790 Adventure to lock horns with the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F750 GS.
