The KTM 790 Adventure R is probably the most anticipated middle-weight adventure motorcycle of 2018. It was unveiled last month and the 2018 EICMA and now, the price of this adventure bike has been leaked.
As per a leaked dealer brochure, the KTM 790 Adventure R has been priced at Rs £11,999 (Rs 10.90 lakh) in the UK. With this pricing, the KTM 790 Adventure R is £700 cheaper than the Triumph Tiger 800XCx and on par with the 2019 Honda Africa Twin.
The KTM 790 Adventure R is built around an all-new platform which also houses a brand new engine. This 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that churns out 95bhp. The bike is loaded with a lot of tech making it easy for rider to make through unpaved terrain. The bike comes with various seat options and six handlebar mount position. It is further loaded with multiple riding modes along with ABS and Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC). MTC is KTM’s lean angle sensitive traction control system that reacts immediately if the rotational speed of the rear wheel is disproportionate to the riding situation. There’s cornering ABS as well.
The 790 Adventure R is equipped with a ‘Rally mode’. In this mode, the rider can adapt to the character of the bike more freely. Slip adjust can be changed in 9 levels, varying from an intervention level 9 (comparable to rain mode) to hardly any intervention at level 1, with 7 steps in between. With these settings, the slip adjust can be very precisely matched to the condition of the surface, the skill level of the rider and the requirements of the ride.
The 790 Adventure R is likely to come to India sometime next year. Rumours suggest that the 790 Duke will come before this ADV. Both could be assembled in India and the means good pricing. But expect the 790 Adventure R to be priced close to the Honda Africa Twin.
