- Fault could impair the braking function
- Recall affects models manufactured in 2019 and 2020
- Replacement spring claimed to be stronger and larger
KTM North America has recalled select units of the 790 Adventure over a front brake issue. The recall affects select 790 Adventure (2019-2020), 790 Adventure R (2019-2020), and 790 Adventure R Rally (2020) models.
According to the recall notice, the front brake master cylinder piston return spring on the affected model may be too weak. The spring on the affected models could be too weak to return the brake piston to its original position, thus reducing the functionality of the front brake.
The company added that in rare cases, this fault could impair the braking function. A front brake with reduced functionality may increase the braking distance and the risk of a crash or injury.
The faulty component was supplied by Spanish brake manufacturer, J Juan. KTM plans to start delivering owner notification letters from 21 May, 2021 and dealers will replace the faulty return spring, free of charge. The replacement spring, which is claimed to be stronger and larger, will be used in MY2021 and going forward.
