KTM had showcased the 790 Adventure concept at the EICMA Show last year. Now, a test mule has been spotted undergoing trials in Europe.
The 790 Adventure is based on KTM’s new parallel twin platform, which also underpins the new 790 Duke streetfighter. For most of the part, the test mule looks exactly like the 790 Adventure concept. The only differences are the split seats in place of the single-piece seat, a headlamp visor and the conventional exhaust which replaces the Akrapovic unit. The styling draws inspiration from the bigger adventure bikes, and features the distinct split LED headlamp setup. Cues like the tall riding stance, long travel suspension, bash plates and spoke wheels give it a rugged look. It rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels shod with dual-sport tyres.
We can expect the parallel-twin engine to be offered in the same state of tune as the 790 Duke – 103bhp and 86Nm of torque. Although it looks ready to hit the production line, it will be a year before the 790 Adventure goes on sale. It will rub shoulders against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 800 and the BMW F 850 GS.
