- The first time the KTM 790s will be built outside Austria
- Philippines pricing sees a massive drop
- Unclear about exports to India
KTM has expanded its manufacturing operations in the Philippines to build the 790 Duke, 790 Adventure, and 790 Adventure R. Notably, this is the first time the 790s will be produced outside Austria.
The manufacturer had inaugurated the facility back in 2017 where the 200 and 390 Duke and RC models were assembled to be distributed locally and to surrounding Asian countries. Nevertheless, the local manufacturing of the 790 range has resulted in massive price cuts of around PhP 198,000-PhP 214,000 (approx. Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.25 lakh) in the Philippines.
In India, KTM currently sells only the 790 Duke which comes as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit from Austria while the 790 Adventure is expected to arrive sometime in 2021. While there is no official confirmation about the motorcycles being imported from the Philippines yet, if it happens, we can expect to see a slight decrease in pricing.
