The KTM 790 Duke was recently spotted in India signifying an imminent launch of the motorcycle. Now, to spice things up, select KTM dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings of the streetfighter. The booking amount varies from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000, depending on the dealership, while a few dealers have also received the motorcycle. As for the pricing, the 790 Duke is likely to be pegged around Rs 9 lakhs (ex-showroom) which will help it undercut its main rival, the Triumph Street Triple RS, by a huge margin. The motorcycle will be launched in India soon.
Featuring KTM’s new-age design language, the 790 Duke is powered by a 799cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor which churns out 105bhp of power and 86Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox which is assisted by a slipper clutch and electronic quickshifter. The motorcycle is underpinned by a tubular steel frame which is suspended by inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear, sourced from WP. Braking hardware comprises of dual discs with four-piston radial calipers at the front and a single disc with single-piston floating caliper at the rear.
The motorcycle is generously equipped with modern features as well. It sports full-LED lighting along with a full-colour TFT instrument cluster which displays a plethora of information. Other electronic gadgetry includes lean-sensitive cornering ABS, switchable traction control and four riding modes including street, rain, sport and track.
The KTM 790 will be available in India as a CKD (completely knocked down) model helping the Austrian bikemaker to price it aggressively. The naked streetfighter will be assembled at Bajaj’s facility located in Chakan.
