KTM has launched the 790 Duke in India which is now its flagship offering in the country. After multiple spy shots emerging on the internet, the motorcycle has garnered a lot of attention from the enthusiasts. Now that it's officially introduced, let's take a closer look at what the brand calls 'The Scalpel.'
The design of the 790 Duke clearly justifies its scalpel tag with profoundly sharp and angular styling.
It gets a split LED headlamp flanked by LED DRLs which is inspired by its larger sibling, the 1290 SuperDuke. The tail lamp of the motorcycle is also an LED unit.
The muscular fuel tank sports sharp extensions while it is narrow enough towards the seat for the rider to tuck their knees comfortably.
At the rear, it features an exposed aluminum subframe which holds a split seat along with an under seat exhaust which is one of the design highlights of the 790 Duke.
All the information is displayed on a full-colour TFT instrument cluster which shows a plethora of information, gets Bluetooth-connectivity and multiple options for theme.
At the heart of it is a 799cc, parallel-twin motor which churns out 105bhp of power and 86Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox which is assisted by a slipper clutch and two-way quickshifter.
The 790 Duke rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Maxxis Supermaxx ST tyres which are suspended by upside down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear, both sourced from WP.
Braking hardware of the motorcycle comprises of dual 300mm discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers at the front and a 240mm single disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. This setup is assisted by cornering ABS which is switchable and gets a Supermoto mode as well.
KTM has priced the 790 Duke at Rs 8.63 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pan India). It is available in nine cities as of now while over 30 cities will receive it soon in India.
