The KTM 790 Duke will finally make its debut in India tomorrow, 23 September. KTM’s highly anticipated middleweight motorcycle is expected to be priced between Rs 8.5-9 lakh (ex-showroom).
KTM has designed the 790 Duke on the lines of the bigger 1290 Super Duke. It sports minimal bodywork with aggressive lines all around. It sports a split LED headlamp with LED turn indicators while the svelte tail section also houses an LED tail lamp. The bike uses a 799cc, parallel-twin motor under its tubular steel frame. This motor churns out 105bhp of power and 86Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with a slipper clutch and a two-way quick shifter. The bike also gets electronic aids like lean-sensitive cornering ABS, a three-mode traction control system along with four riding modes- street, rain, sport, track, and a Supermoto mode.
The 790 Duke will go head-on against the Triumph Street Triple S and Street Triple RS in the country. It will also face competition from the Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900 and the Ducati Monster 821 here.
