KTM recently launched its highly anticipated offering, the 790 Duke in India. It is the Austrian manufacturer's first big bike in the country. We bring to you five highlights of the KTM 790 Duke.
Styling
The KTM 790 Duke takes styling inspiration from its bigger sibling, the 1290 Duke. It gets an aggressive stance courtesy the low slung full LED headlamp and sharp tank extensions. Moreover, the 790 Duke has minimal bodywork that completes its appeal. At the rear, the bike sports a split seat with its tail lamp mounted above the number plate holder.
Loaded with electronic aids
The bike comes loaded to the brim with electronic aids like lean-sensitive cornering ABS, three-mode traction control system and four riding modes- Street, Rain, Sport, Track, and a Supermoto mode which can disengage ABS to the rear wheel.
KTM's first parallel-twin motor
The Austrians are known to use V-twin motors in their big bikes. But they had different plans with the 790 Duke. The streetfighter comes powered by KTM's first parallel-twin motor. The 799cc liquid-cooled mill churns out 105bhp and 87Nm of torque and comes mated to a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter.
Colours
The 790 Duke is offered in two colour schemes in India as well as international markets. You can either have the motorcycle in black or in an orange paint scheme. Both paint options get an aluminum finished fuel tank.
Pricing
KTM has pegged the 790 Duke at Rs 8.63 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is available only in nine cities and in a limited batch of 100 units. The 790 Duke's pricing undercuts the Triumph Street Triple and Street Triple RS's pricing by a huge margin. However at this price point it also competes against the Kawasaki Z900, Yamaha MT-09 and the Ducati Monster 821.
