- New 890 KTM Adventure R revealed
- Gets new 105bhp motor
- Rally Edition is limited to just 700 units
KTM has taken the wraps off their latest adventure bike, the 890 Adventure R. In fact, the company has also revealed a limited edition 890 Adventure Rally.
Both the adventure bikes carry the same DNA and styling from the 790 Adventure series. But underneath those clothes, is a new frame, new swingarm but more importantly new engine. This motor is actually a modified version of the Duke 890’s parallel-twin engine. So it now makes less power at 105bhp. Just like the most of the big KTMs, the 890 Adventure too is equipped with a lot of gadgets. It gets cornering and off-road ABS, multiple riding modes, traction control system, quickshifter and also a five-inch full colour TFT display.
The suspension setup on this is brand new. It gets a WP 48mm inverted fork with 9.4 inches of travel at the front and a WP mono-shock at the rear which has around 9.4 inches of travel. The bike rides on a 21-inc and 19-inch wheels at the front and back respectively. These wheels are shod with Metzeler Karoo 3 tyres. When it comes to the stopping power, the 890 ADV gets twin 320mm discs with four-piston calipers at the front front and a single 260mm disc with a dual-piston caliper at the back.
The 890 Adventure Rally edition which is limited to just 700 units gets more exclusive cycle parts. So things like rally foot pegs, anodized wheels, an updated race-tuned chassis, enduro seat, carbon fiber tank protector are seen on the bike. The suspension is top-spec too.
The Austrian brand will officially start deliveries of the bikes later this year and we would love to see the 890 Adventure coming to India at least.
