-KTM India big bikes to be launched soon
-Focus on R models first
-Prices are expected to be at par with the competition
KTM India is all set to launch its big-capacity motorcycles in India on 14 November. As we reported a few months ago, KTM has plans to enter the big bike market with a slew of launches. These motorcycles are expected to establish KTM as a premium manufacturer in India.
The likely bikes to be launched are the KTM 890 Duke R, 890 Adventure R, 1290 Super Adventure R, 1390 Super Duke R. KTM, by choosing to launch the R models, is trying to give potential customers a taste of the very best they can offer from their product line. To the uninitiated, KTM always develops an ‘R’ variant of its motorcycles and they are supposed to feature the best components and equipment.
The 890 Duke R is expected to be a fast, enthralling street bike while the 890 Adventure R will offer the thrill of the same engine in an ADV format. The 1290 Super Adventure R will be KTM’s entrant in the ADV segment where we’ve got the likes of the BMW R 1300 GS. Lastly, the KTM 1390 Super Duke R will be the manic streetfighter from Mattighofen.
KTM will also announce the sales and service plans for its big bikes in India on 14 November. The company along with its dealers has transformed showrooms and will be training service staff to handle these big machines. Word is that parts and spares that are usually consumed, like engine oils, oil filters, air filters and more will be readily available.
Bookings for these big bikes have already begun in South India, as we’d also reported. We expect KTM to price the motorcycles competitively and in the same ballpark as the competition. While it has taken quite some time for KTM India to bring its big bikes to India after discontinuing the KTM 790 Duke, the wait for KTM enthusiasts is almost over.
