The KTM 890 Duke R has been unveiled at the 2019 EICMA and the motorcycle is basically a 790 Duke on steroids.
It comes powered by an 890cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 119bhp of power and 99Nm of torque. This is a bump of 15bhp and 14Nm from the 790 Duke’s motor. It also features top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers with 320mm discs up front and a Brembo floating caliper with a 240mm disc at the rear. Moreover, the 890 Duke weighs 3kg lesser than the 790 Duke and also features a higher ground clearance and seat height.
The motorcycle shares the same bodywork as its smaller sibling although it comes in a white paint with black and orange highlights along with orange wheels. The 890 Duke R also sports a rear seat cowl that further sets it apart from the 790 Duke visually. The electronics package remains the same and includes lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, launch and wheelie control along with riding modes that include a ‘Supermoto’ mode that turns off ABS at the rear wheel.
KTM only recently launched the 790 Duke in India in a limited-run of 100 units. While details are currently unavailable, the 890 Duke R is unlikely to makes its way to our country anytime soon.
