KTM recently expanded its range of low-capacity motorcycles with the addition of the Duke 250 and the RC250 motorcycles. And though these new models might not be destined for the Indian market anytime soon, KTM India has already started the production and export of the Duke 250 and the RC250, to its global markets.
Both the Duke 250 and the RC250 are based on the same lightweight trellis frame and are powered by a 250cc single-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled unit produces 31bhp and 24Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed transmission. Aesthetically, these new models are no different from the Duke 390/Duke 200 and the RC390/RC200, though they do get different decals to set them apart from its siblings.
Reports suggest that the Austrian manufacturer has so far started exporting the Duke 250 and the RC250 to markets like Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Like a majority of its single-cylinder range, the Duke 250 ad the RC250 are produced at Bajaj’s manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune. While these models might not seem very different from the smaller Duke 200 and RC200, the quarter-litre models do get slipper clutch and ABS as a standard fitment. This is an indication that these two models are meant just for a few select markets, where customers have an affinity for these premium features.
