- KTM makes formal announcement about the 390 Adventure
- Should be unveiled at the 2018 EICMA Show
- Will go on sale in India in 2019
KTM has made a formal announcement regarding its highly-anticipated 390 Adventure. The adventure touring motorcycle will go on sale in the Indian market in 2019.
The 390Adventure will share the 373cc engine from the 390 Duke, although the chassis is expected to be significantly different owing to the nature and demands of the segment. KTM claims that the 390 Adventure will draw inspiration from the flagship adventure touring motorcycle, the 1290 Adventure, and will be a multipurpose motorcycle capable of riding long distances on any kind of terrain. Speaking about the bike, Amit Nandi, president (Probiking), Bajaj Auto Ltd. said, “KTM is a niche brand for a select few. With the 390 Adventure we would be making our long awaited entry into the niche premium dual-sport segment which is a very apt segment for Indian roads.”

While KTM’s plans about the 390 Adventure have always been an open secret, this is the first official word the company has given out about the motorcycle. The motorcycle should make its maiden public appearance at the 2018 EICMA Show in Italy later this year and hit the production lines in early 2019.
The Hero Impulse might not have made an impact when it first went on sale, but there has been a significant increase in demand for this genre among enthusiasts in the last couple of years. The Royal Enfield Himalayan and the astronomically-priced Kawasaki Versys X-300 are the only options as of now, although these will soon be joined by the BMW G 310 GS, Hero Xpulse and the KTM 390 Adventure.
