KTM might conduct a dealer conference in a few weeks in Pune where the company might display the KTM RC series of motorcycles. The much awaited KTM RC390 and KTM RC200 might also be shown before launching the bike in the Indian market.
The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer has been testing both the motorcycles in India for quite some time now. The motorcycles have been spied many times in and around Pune where the manufacturing facility is located. Both the motorcycles are based on their naked siblings available in the Indian market now. The RC series is the fully-faired version of Duke motorcycles. While the RC390 is based on the Duke 390, the RC200 is based on the Duke 200. Both these faired motorcycles get twin-projector headlamps and clip-on handlebars apart from the sharply sculpted fairing.
The motorcycles will be powered by the same set of engines the naked siblings are equipped with. This means the RC390 will be powered by 373cc single cylinder water-cooled engine from the Duke 390 that churns out 43bhp of power and 35Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a six-speed transmission. On the other hand, the RC200 will be powered by the same liquid cooled 200cc motor from Duke 200 that produces 25bhp of power and 19Nm of torque. It is also mated to the six-speed sequential gearbox.
At present, the Duke 390 and 200 are produced at Bajaj's manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune and are not just sold in India but also exported to other markets. This RC series of motorcycles will receive the same treatment after its launch. It is speculated that KTM India will start the sales training for dealers from August 29 which might mean that the launch date of the RC390 and RC200 may be pushed further to September this year.
