KTM has confirmed to launch the Duke 690 and the Duke 125 in India by 2015 as a part of their future expansion plans. The announcement was made at a recently held press conference in New Delhi, where they also revealed that it will be manufacturing the 690 at Bajaj’s Chakan plant.
Bajaj had confirmed launching the bigger capacity KTM and Pulsar motorcycles in India by 2014-2015. They recently launched the KTM Duke 390 which is enjoying a good demand among youngsters in India. The Duke 690 will be a perfect bike for those who are looking for a powerful yet affordable sub-700 naked motorcycle. Few weeks ago, we reported about a Duke 690 being testing in the Ladakh region along with other KTM and Bajaj products. And now a confirmation from the company itself clearly shows that the company had made plans to launch the bike many months ago.
The Duke 125 is already being produced at Bajaj’s manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune. Currently it is being exported to other countries but is not available for sale in India. It will be interesting to see at what price point the Duke 125 will be launched in India. It’s sure to become the most expensive 125cc motorcycle in the country but will it find any takers here is the bigger question.
