KTM Duke-based supermoto has been spied testing by a member of KTM forum. This half-camouflaged supermoto looks very similar to the current Duke platform and can be clearly seen sporting many Duke 200 parts.
The handle bar, instrument cluster, wheels and rims, rear suspension and the swingarm looks exactly like the ones on the Duke 200. Presence of the rear view mirrors, headlamps and tail lights makes us believe that this is a road legal motorcycle. It has many supermoto characteristics like the high side-mounted exhaust, longer forks, high ground clearance and the tall, flat, long seat. Foot pegs are placed in a very supermoto style to allow the rider to stand easily and enjoy the bad tarmac.
KTM CEO Stefan Pierer had announced that they will be building naked motorcycles along with fully-faired and adventure motorcycles. The first two have been shown to the world whereas the adventure models are yet to be seen. The interesting bit is that KTM never spoke about the supermoto version but thanks to these images, we can speculate that KTM-Bajaj is developing a fourth motorcycle type with their current Duke platform.
Expect KTM to announce something about the Duke-based supermoto soon. We will be more than happy if we see this machine at the 2014 Auto Expo. I know three people in BikeWale team who have confirmed that they will be attending the Auto Expo with a cheque book.
