The repercussions of hike in excise duties for two-wheelers are slowly rearing their head, with KTM becoming the latest manufacturer to raise prices across its entire range. The hike ranges from 4 per cent for the RC390 and goes up to 5.5 per cent for the Duke 200.
While the RC390 was launched for an introductory price of Rs 2.05 lakh, the price has now been increased by Rs 8,000 and a new RC390 will now set you back by Rs 2.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Its smaller sibling, the RC200, was launched at Rs 1.60 lakh, though now it will cost you Rs 1.66 lakh. The price hike has affected the naked Duke models too, and the Duke 200 and the Duke 390 will be pricier by Rs 7,190 and Rs 8,000 respectively.
Though the price jump in the RC series is very nominal, the hike in the Duke models is quite significant. While it would have been reasonable for the company to increase prices by four per cent to reflect the jump in excise duties, Rs 7,190 is quite a hefty amount for someone buying a Duke 200.
