KTM India is soon planning to launch factory engine maps for the Duke 200 and the Duke 390 ABS. This makes KTM the first manufacturer in India to offer these modifications officially. The Austrian manufacturer will offer two engine maps – a performance map and one for city use.
These two engine maps can be installed by company’s trained technicians at all pro-biking dealerships across the country but for a price. A customer has the option to choose any of the two maps, but has to make a trip to the official service center to get it done. In case, the customer wants to switch from one map to another, this can be done as well but it too comes at a price. Installing these custom maps won’t void the warranty of the bikes as it will be approved by KTM Austria.
This development is quite exciting as till now the only option to get these performance custom maps done was through private tuners and it used to result in the warranty becoming void and so many were discouraged from doing so.
KTM is also in the process of launching a roadside assistance program for KTM owners called Orange Assist. On subscription to this round-the-clock service, riders can call upon a flatbed pickup van in case of a breakdown, get fuel-delivery or to avail medical coordination in case of an untoward incident. Roadside assistance is offered within a 100km radius of every KTM workshop.
