- KTM to introduce lower-spec big bikes in future
- Currently sells top-end models
- Launch within 18 months
KTM launched 11 motorcycles a few days ago, most of which were the top-spec variants of the respective model line-up. However, the company is open to introducing more variants in the future.
During the press conference, one of the top honchos of the company confirmed to BikeWale that eventually, they will bring the other variants to India as well based on the demand. Currently, the top-spec variants like the 890 Adventure R, 890 Duke R and the 1390 Super Duke R have been launched at good pricing. But when the company brings down lower-spec models, the prices of the bikes will be lower than the current models, which will increase the overall sales of KTM big bikes.
The top-down launch approach makes sense for KTM as it allows the company to build great brand value and recall. Plus, it is likely to take away some sales from its rivals. But when the lower-spec models are launched, the bikes become far more accessible to Indian buyers, which will help the brand reach far more sales volumes.
As of now, there are no timelines for the launch of these bikes, but expect them to arrive in the next 12-18 months.
