KTM is likely to unveil the 790 Adventure at the 2017 EICMA in Milan this November. The bike is based on the 790 Duke and is expected to use a tweaked version of the streetfighter’s 800cc parallel-twin engine.
The bike, which was spied last year, revealed a number of details about the adventure motorcycle. The test mule sported a 21-inch wheel for the front and an 18-inch rear wheel both shod with knobby tyres. Judging by KTM’s current line-up, we believe that this bike will be the off-road focused, ‘R’ version. The spotted bike also featured conventional, fully-adjustable WP forks upfront and fully-adjustable monoshock at the rear rather than semi-active units.
The 790 Adventure will also feature two fuel tanks each with individual filler caps to ensure long distances between fuel stops. The standard bike is expected to get three rider modes, while the ‘R’ will get four modes plus multi-mode traction control and ABS.
Although the test mule did not feature the trademark split LED headlamp, we expect the production version to do so. When it’s launched, the KTM 790 Adventure will compete against the Honda Africa Twin and Triumph’s Tiger 800 range.
