Just few more days to go for the EICMA event to start in Milan, Italy and we already have images of the much anticipated KTM fully-faired motorcycles. KTM has confirmed the launch of three full-faired motorcycles this year i.e., RC 125, RC 200 and the RC 390. The high-definition image of the RC 200 is out on the web and honestly, we are really impressed with the motorcycle overall.
In terms of design, the KTM RC 200 looks familiar to the RC 125 and RC 390. The KTM-Bajaj alliance is using the same design and parts sharing strategy that they used for the Duke 200 and the 390 Duke. We are expecting the RC 200 and the RC 390 to share many parts that will help them save cost due to economies of scale.
The RC 200 design is very aggressive and will be an affordable track machine for beginners as well as experts. It gets twin headlamps, clip-on handlebars, mirrors mounted on the fairing and a beautiful set of graphics that makes the motorcycle look so appealing. The motorcycle sports KTM’s traditional orange coloured trellis frame and the fuel tank looks very sharp. There are pictures of the RC 200 with a tank bag making us believe that the Austrian motorcycle maker is also planning to market this motorcycle as touring friendly. The grab rail is missing but we are expecting the motorcycle to come with a rear seat. Expect the company to sell RC 200 with a range of power parts that will add more to the fun quotient.
Talking about the RC 200’s mechanical bits, it will be powered by the same engine that powers the naked sibling, but expect it to be a retuned one to give maximum track performance. The RC 200’s maximum speed will be more than the Duke 125, thanks to its full-fairing that will help the aerodynamics of the motorcycle. Like the other naked Duke range, the RC 200 will be manufactured in Bajaj’s Chakan facility and sold across the world. Expect the KTM RC 200 to make its way to the Indian market in the next few weeks with a very aggressive price tag. It will compete with the Yamaha YZF-R15 V 2.0 and the Honda CBR 250R.
