- Officially teased by Aprilia India
- Global unveil to take place on 7 September
- Will rival the KTM RC 390, upcoming Yamaha R3, and the Kawasaki Ninja 300
Aprilia India has teased a new supersport motorcycle on its social media handles and we think it could be the RS440. The bike has been spotted testing multiple times in India as well as abroad and could very well make its global debut on 7 September.
As of now, the post has only teased the silhouette and we think it could be the RS440’s. The motorcycle will borrow its design from the larger RS660 and RSV4 bikes. Even the test bike has revealed a lot of design cues of the RS440 and we’ve seen it sport split LED headlights topped by a transparent visor. Then, the side panels and the overall bodywork, too, are quite sporty.
Powering the new Aprilia RS440 will be a 440cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that could be an under-bored version of the RS660. It could develop 48bhp and have a top speed of around 180kmph. The motor will be mated to a six-speed gearbox and benefit from a slipper clutch and quickshifter too. Meanwhile, the features list could comprise a fully digital TFT, smartphone connectivity, ABS, full LED illumination, and more.
Its hardware will include USD front forks with a rear monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking duties will be handled by a front and rear disc brake. These will be mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in TVS Eurogrip tyres as seen in the test bike spotted internationally.
Once launched, it will rival the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Ninja 400, as well as the upcoming Yamaha R3.
