It is finally happening. The most anticipated motorcycle launch of this year is taking place in Pune tomorrow. Yes, we are talking about the KTM RC200 and the RC390. After unveiling these motorcycles at EICMA 2013, motorcycle enthusiasts across the world became eager to get hands on one. And India is one of the few countries to get these motorcycles.
KTM was spotted testing these bikes extensively and this led to a lot of excitement among prospective customers. The KTM RC200 and the RC390 are based on the Duke 200 and Duke 390 platform respectively. The smaller super sport motorcycle derives power from the 200cc single-cylinder unit producing 25bhp and 19Nm of torque, while the 390 uses the 372cc mill with an output of 43bhp and 35Nm of torque. Both engines deliver power to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox with one-down five-up shift pattern.
Other than the fact that it’s brilliant power to weight ratio, the motorcycles look stunning and are expected to be the best looking motorcycle in their respective segments. With features like day time running (DRLs), twin projector headlamps, it is expected to deliver on the “value for money” tag, but this will depend on the way KTM India prices it. We are expecting KTM to price it between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively over the Duke siblings. Both the moorcycles are manufactured in Bajaj’s Chakan plant and are also exported to other countries.
