The KTM RC390 has been spotted testing many times as the Austrian manufacturer seems to be leaving no stone unturned for its first faired performance motorcycle in India. Now, reports suggest that the company is planning to launch the RC390 in September.
The KTM RC390 is one of the highly anticipated motorcycles in the country. The design and styling of the RC390 and RC200 stays true to the model which was unveiled at EICMA 2013 in November, last year. Both these bikes will be built around the trellis frame also seen in the 390 Duke. The twin-headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs) and the angular faring lend the bike an aggressive stance. They also get clip-on handle-bars, wide fairing-mounted OVRMs, under belly exhaust system and LED tail lamps.
Reports suggest that some dealerships have started accepting bookings of the RC390. Like the Duke 125, Duke 200 and the Duke 390, KTM will build the entire the RC range, with the exception of the RC8, at Bajaj’s production facility in Chakan, Pune. Owing to the high level of localisation, we expect the RC390 to get a tempting price of around Rs 2.4 lakh. Considering that the RC390 is launched around this price range, it will rank very high on the performance to price graph, just like the 390 Duke.
The KTM RC390 will use the same single-cylinder liquid cooled 375cc engine which is also used in the 390 Duke. This engine will be tuned to give the RC390 its unique characteristic. This engine produces 44bhp and 35Nm of torque in the 390 Duke, but is likely to benefit from the aerodynamics for true top speed.
