A KTM RC-spec motorcycle has been spotted testing undisguised at Badlapur near Mumbai. The bike, which could either be the RC 200 or the RC 390, was unveiled at the 2013 EICMA in Italy and is basically a fully faired version of the Austrian two-wheeler maker’s 200cc/390cc motorcycles. They have been spotted testing in and around the highways between Mumbai and Pune on multiple occasions and mostly tailing each other.
The pictures reveal that this is the production version of one of the bikes thanks to fittings like the mirrors, number plates and indicators. However, this bike is without any of KTMs bright and ‘in your face’ stickers indicating that there might be changes to the final decal or that KTM did not want anyone to identify the bike being tested.
The RC200 like its naked twin is powered by a single cylinder 200cc four-stroke unit that produces 25bhp and 19Nm of torque. The RC 390 on the other hand is powered by a single cylinder 373cc four-stroke unit that produces 44bhp and 35Nm of torque. Both engines has been mated to a six-speed sequential box and uses a chain-drive to send power to the rear wheel.
We expect that both models will be brought to India by the middle of next year and will be priced in the Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 1.55 lakh range for the RC200 and Rs 2.3 lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh range for the RC390.
