- KTM working on four variants of the new 390 Adventure
- Likely to be showcased at EICMA 2024
- Expected to be launched in early 2025
KTM has been testing the next-generation 390 Adventure in India and Europe for over a year. So far, we have seen KTM testing two versions of the bike – adventure and enduro. However, we have learned from our sources that KTM is readying as many as four variants of the next-gen 390 Adventure for India.
So, what are these four variants? Besides the standard adventure and enduro variants, KTM will also introduce a touring model and an entry-level ‘X’ version of the new 390 Adventure. That said, we believe the Austrian bike maker may not launch all four variants of the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure at once. According to the info at hand, KTM will launch the adventure and touring versions initially.
Although it is still unconfirmed, KTM could introduce the 390 Adventure X variant at launch, given that the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450’s base variant starts at Rs. 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The new X variant could help KTM price the motorcycle close to the Himalayan 450’s pricing. Meanwhile, the KTM 390 Adventure Enduro variant is likely to be launched sometime later in 2025.
Now, the obvious question is, how would these variants differ from each other? Well, the new 390 Adventure X is likely to feature a basic suspension setup and could miss out on a few electronic rider aids. Meanwhile, the touring version will sport a 19/17-inch alloy wheels setup and possibly non-adjustable suspension.
The off-road-focused adventure and enduro variants will ride on 21/18-inch wire-spoke wheels and get adjustable suspension at both ends. The 390 Adventure Enduro will sport a bikini fairing and a flatter seat to distinguish itself from the rest of the lineup.
All variants of the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure will be powered by the same 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that powers the 390 Duke. This engine produces 45.37bhp at 8,500rpm and 39Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. KTM could alter the final drive ratio and tune the engine to suit the ADV’s application.
Coming to its launch timeline, KTM is expected to showcase the next-generation 390 Adventure at EICMA in November 2024. This will be followed by a market launch sometime in early 2025.
