KTM Australia has issued a recall for its litre-class adventure touring motorcycle, the 1290 Super Adventure. The statement released by the Austrian manufacturer refers to a possible fault in the semi-active rear suspension setup of the motorcycle, which might lead to an oil leak in the shock absorber.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure motorcycles affected by this recall were sold between the February 1, 2015 and May 4, 2016. The affected models might develop a leak at the plug connection in the rear shock absorber, which might eventually lead to damage to the interior of the component. Apart from this, the software system for the semi-active suspension also requires updating.
While KTM states that further deterioration of the shock absorber might lead to an accident, no such incidents have been reported so far. Customers of the affected motorcycles have been informed about the recall through a notification letter, asking them to contact their local KTM dealer to get the problem fixed, free of cost.
