Earlier this week, KTM rolled out the 1,00,000th motorcycle off its production, thereby breaking its personal record for most number of motorcycles produced in a single year. The 1,00,000th motorcycle to leave the production line at main factory in Mattighofen, Austria, was a 2015 MY 1190 Adventure.
The Austrian manufacturer released a statement saying: “Since 1999, when the production was started, more than 1.2 million vehicles, manufactured according to the ‘Ready To Race’ philosophy, have left the Mattighofen based factory!”
In recent years, KTM’s association with Indian the two-wheeler giant, Bajaj Auto, has given the company an edge to compete with the other Japanese manufacturers, helping them set sales records in this year, not just in India but also in Europe and other global markets.
Bajaj’s low-cost manufacturing technologies have helped KTM enhance their profit margins and increase their productivity, while keeping the prices very competitive. Riding on this increased demand, the company hopes to boost its annual sales figures to 2,50,000 units by 2020.
