The KTM 1290 Super Adventure was spotted on test several times before and recently the motorcycle was sighted in a production-ready guise. The bike was being shot for a video on a set in Monaco. KTM UK has now confirmed that the 1290 Super Adventure will be available in 2015.
The 1290 Super Adventure will be a high-end motorcycle that will be slotted into the sport-touring and luxury travelling segment of motorcycles. It will portray the Austrian manufacturer's typical sporty design approach as seen in its other motorcycles.
The bike's fairing gets larger air vents and a redesigned front cowl to accommodate the new engine. KTM hasn’t confirmed the specifications of the bike yet, but we can expect the bike to feature electronic rider aids like ABS, traction control and Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) as standard. These features are available on the 2014 variant of the 1190 Adventure. However, the hard cases seen in the picture might be offered as an option.
The motorcycle is expected to be powered by the 1301cc V-Twin engine from the 1290 Super Duke R which produces 180bhp of power. The company might tune this engine to churn out more torque to do the off-roading duties with ease.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure might be launched next year in the UK and then will join the 1190 Adventure and Adventure R that were launched in 2013. The motorcycle might be unveiled officially at the Intermot in early October or at the EICMA event, in early November this year. More details are expected to emerge soon.
