- EICMA and INTERMOT 2020 take place in Italy and Germany respectively
- Planning of such events is currently at risk
- KTM has also temporarily suspended production in Europe
Recently, BMW Motorrad announced that it will skip this year’s EICMA and INTERMOT motorcycle shows. The Bavarian manufacturer took this decision due to the uncertain times caused by the global spread of the Coronavirus virus. In latest updates, KTM has announced that it won’t be a part of the two major motorcycle shows mentioned above.
The EICMA (November 2020) and the INTERMOT (October 2020) motorcycle shows take place in Milan, Italy and Cologne, Germany respectively. Several European countries are severely hit by the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic. In fact, Italy is among the worst affected nations in the world.
KTM said in a press statement that the proper planning of such events is currently at risk due to the uncertainty surrounding public gathering restrictions in most countries. The company added that these indoor shows witness hundreds of thousands of visitors gathering in enclosed spaces. By excluding themselves from these events, KTM AG aims to contribute towards a safe and strong return to normal activity.
The Austrian brand has also temporarily suspended the production of KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas motorcycles in Europe.
