KTM unveils the E-SPEED electric scooter

KTM today unveiled a new concept electric scooter called the E-SPEED at the Tokyo Motor Show. This is the second product after the the Freeride-E, from the off-roader manufacture in the electric vehicle segment.

The E-SPEED is powered by a liquid-cooled permanent-magnet synchronous motor which produces 14.75bhp and 36Nm of torque. Electricity is stored in a package of cutting-edge lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 4.36kWh that is fully charged within two hours on a regular 220V socket.

This scooter weighs 140kg and can achieve a top speed figure of 80kmph. With one full charge, the scooter can travel a distance 64 kms. The scooter also features day time running lamps, regenerative brakes with 220mm discs, ABS and 14-inch alloy wheels.

We believe that the production version of the KTM E-SPEED (if ever launched) won’t make it to India soon as the market is not yet matured for the electric vehicle segment.
