KTM updates website, says Duke 390 coming soon to India

KTM have updated their official site with information about the Duke 390’s launch in India. The much hyped motorcycle which was revealed to the world few days back during EICMA event, Italy, is made in India and is already on sale in European markets. The motorcycle is expected to be launched in India somewhere during the first quarter of 2013 and KTM has confirmed the same by  changing the details on the website that earlier read as “Not available in India” to “Coming soon to India”.

This is good news to Indian motorcycle enthusiasts who are waiting to get hands on the bigger Duke. The Duke 390 is powered by 390cc single cylinder that develops 45bhp and 35Nm of torque. Considering it weighs just 13kgs more than the Duke 200, rest assure that this one is going to be a proper street hooligan. The liquid-cooled engine has advanced fuel injection system and it is mated to six-speed manual gearbox.

The KTM Duke 390 can carry half litre extra fuel than the 200 and weighs a bit more; but it looks almost exactly the same as its younger sibling. This is because everything from light-weight chassis, suspension to swing-arm’s design is the same. This also means that the price won’t be much higher than the 200 either, with base variant costing around Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

We are expecting the launch to happen somewhere in February or March and will be available in two variants- with ABS and without ABS.
