- Radar system likely to be sourced from Bosch
- Likely to enter production in the near future
- Radar tech may arrive on more touring-focussed models
Leaked patent images have revealed the upcoming radar tech for Honda Goldwing. The technology could be used to add safety features such as autonomous braking and radar-assisted cruise control system. Honda may also use the tech on other touring-focussed models such as the Africa Twin CRF1100L. Leaked patent images only indicate a forward placement of the radar hardware.
The details about the arrival of the technology to production models is scarce, although considering the updates announced by rival brands like Ducati and KTM, it shouldn’t be too far into the future. Ducati has announced the radar tech for its new Multistrada V4 while KTM and BMW Motorrad will soon introduce the feature on the 1290 Super Adventure and the R 1250 RT, respectively. Similar to the rival brands, Honda, too, may source its radar tech from Bosch.
The hardware on the new Ducati Multistrada V4 also includes a rear radar system that brings the safety net of Blind Spot Detection to the motorcycle. The leaked patent images of the Honda Goldwing, however, do not hint at a rear radar system. We could hear more details as the company gets closer to installing the tech to production models.
